Ingredients
- Peels from 1 orange
- Water
- 1 cup sugar
Steps
- Slice peels into thin strips (about ¼” wide).
- In a medium pot of boiling water, cook the peel until tender, about 15 minutes.
- Transfer peels to a wire rack or paper towel and set in a single layer to dry slightly, about 15 minutes.
- In a medium saucepan bring about 1 cup sugar and 1 cup of water to a boil over high heat, stirring to dissolve sugar.
- Add peel and boil until peel is very soft, about 45 minutes.
- Transfer to a wire rack, separating pieces as needed.
- Let dry for about a day to harden, then finish by tossing peels in a bit of sugar to coat or dip in chocolate.
Tip: Save the sugar water for a delicious orange syrup!
