Steps

  1. Add the potato peels to the blender and add water to and blend well so that the potato skin is finely mixed with the water.
  2. Pout blended solution into cheesecloth over the bowl, we are collecting the water not the potato skins. Squeeze all of the water from the potato skins and then you can throw them in to your composter.
  3. Take of the foamy layer from the potato water (color varies depending on potato, the brown potatoes have more starch in their peels).
  4. Wait for the water to settle then pour it down the drain, make sure that to not pour away the starch at the very bottom of the bowl, that is what we are here for.
  5. There you have it, potato starch, if you prefer to have it more dry, place the bowl on the windosill to evaporate as much water as possible.
